Amalfi Coast

 The villages of Ravello and Positano, share this coastline and were once important in the Amalfi Empire.  Ravello was the preferred address for the wealthy merchants of the Amalfi port.  Atop the cliffs, they built huge villas and estates overlooking the sea, while their workers occupied the more crowded seaside towns including Amalfi, .  Colorful Positano, cascading from cliff to seashore, is often featured in today’s upscale travel magazines.  Its magical setting and cultural offerings attract sophisticates from around the world.

Ravello and Positano are both sought after destinations by knowledgeable travelers.  The ideal position of Ravello ensures a quiet neighborhood, a sunny village square in front of the Cathedral, several delightful restaurants and from May to October a long list of superb musical events.  Positano literally bustles with energy day and night.  Restaurants, world famous (and expensive) hotels, upscale designer shops, and artisans’ workshops are scattered along the main thoroughfare from the top of the cliff to the shore and back again.  An artistic Mecca, Positano hosts a world famous Ballet Festival and an international Chamber Music Festival.
