Podere Caselina - F34

Podere Caselina is a large, old stone farmhouse completely independent and totally restored. The house sits on a wonderful 8 acre estate of olive groves and enjoys a southern exposure. Its isolated and dominant position ensures complete tranquility and a magnificent view across the hills of the Chianti countryside.

The house is spacious (3400 square feet) and can accommodate 16. Its magnificent restoration, under the tasteful supervision of the owner, has maintained the traditional Tuscan style - old terracotta floors, wood-beamed ceilings and portals made of lovely "pietra serena".

The bedrooms boast elegant wrought-iron bedsteads and white bedspreads, old rustic dressers and other furniture from by-gone days, all creating a nostalgic and "retro" country atmosphere of beauty and harmony. However, notwithstanding the antique styling (the comfortable/overstuffed furnishings are purposely rather dark), the house offers all modern comforts, a very large well-equipped kitchen with a 5 burner stove, electric oven, dishwasher, large refrigerator and freezer, a laundry with washing machine and dryer, a living room with a first-class stereo system and good selection of music, satellite television, DVD player, cordless telephone, fax machine, and DSL internet connection with WI-FI capability.

In addition, in the midst of olive groves with a full southern exposure, the swimming pool (6 x 12 meters - available from May 1 to October 25) is reserved exclusively for guest use and has continuous sun from morning until evening.

Podere Caselina is just 3 km from Montespertoli where shops and restaurants are conveniently located. Many of the country villages have wonderful trattorie serving delicious homemade pastas, locally produced virgin olive oil and the wines of the Chianti. Day trips to Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano are within easy driving distance.

The accommodations are on 2 floors.  The bedrooms/bathrooms are as follows:

• On the ground floor there is one double bedroom with bathroom/shower and one suite with double bedroom, bathroom /shower, salon with satellite LCD-TV, DVD, CD, free DSL connection and private terrace.

• On the second floor, there are the following accommodations:

• One double bedroom with wonderful views from the windows in two directions. This bedroom has a huge en suite bathroom with tub and both a fixed and hand-held shower.

• One bedroom with double bed and a wonderful view of the Chianti countryside over the pool.

• One bedroom with double bed.

• Two bedrooms with 2 single beds each.  One has a nice view to the west.  Upon request, an extra bed can be placed in each of these bedrooms.

• One very large bathroom with tub/shower which serves the last 4 bedrooms.

Here are some of the other highlights at Podere Caselina: Large living room with big Tuscan fireplace, a private garden, dining room with seating up to 16 and a working piano, tableware and cooking equipment for at least 20, an office available for use with an extra bed,  2 terraces under trees and open to the beauty of the surrounding countryside where it is a delight to dine "al fresco".

When guests are in residence, the owner lives in a renovated hay loft behind the main house. All views from the house are in the other 3 directions, guaranteeing total independence, privacy and the exclusive use of the swimming pool to the guests.
 

Renting Podere Caselina - F34

*Up to 16 guests can be accommodated in Podere Caselina, but for groups larger than 10 there is an additional charge of $600/person. There is no extra charge for infants under 1 year.

Prices are per week and include weekly bathroom cleaning and linen/towel change as well as use of laundry facilities.

Central heating and telephone, if used, are charged separately.  Gas for heating is €6.00/cubic meter; telephone usage is charged at €0.15/message unit. Firewood is available for a separate charge of €15.00/kg. Additional cleaning is available for €12.00/hour. A private cook is available to prepare meals upon request.  2 menus may be prepared for a cost of €28.00/person or €33.00/person, wine included. Menus can be provided in advance to make reservations with the cook.  All extra charges are paid directly to the owner prior to your departure.

A security deposit of $1000 is collected with your final payment, and returned to you within 30 days following your departure from Podere Caselina less any charges for loss or breakage.
