Il Palagio-TU53

The ancient walls of Il Palagio, Panzano have dominated the Chianti countryside for over 800 years. Located within walking distance of the charming market town of Panzano, the estate has been beautifully renovated to include six spacious apartments and flats with private entrances a spectacular pool and outdoor lounge overlooking ancient olive groves and Chianti vineyards. 

The panorama from the windows and grounds of Il Palagio stretches over the Chianti hills and fertile valley painted in green and gold against the incredible blue of the Tuscan sky. This is the heart of the Chianti and a perfect location for experiencing one of the most famous wine producing regions in the world. The estate produces its own olive oil and Chianti Classico which may be purchased on the estate.

The interiors are cool in summer and warm in winter. The original stone walls are highlighted by beamed ceilings, polished terra cotta floors and elegant but comfortable furnishings. All apartments include dishwashers, washing machines, central heating (extra charge) and fully equipped kitchens. There is a summer vegetable garden for the guests and the large estate has many groves and meadows for guest use. The gorgeous pool and covered patio enjoy truly spectacular views regardless of season. 

Panzano has several restaurants, good shopping and a charming atmosphere. Florence, Siena and San Gimignano are only 30 km or so away.  The hostess speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about the area.

Tottolo: Entered from a private courtyard, Tottolo accommodates up to six in three bedrooms and two baths. The spacious living room with working fireplace has a picture window overlooking the Chianti countryside and a large dining area. The country kitchen has a wonderful marble sink and raised Tuscan hearth and is fully equipped. The master suite on this level (double bed) has a complete ensuite bath with stall shower. Down four steps from the living room is a large bathroom with triangular bathtub, stall shower and two wash basins. On this level is a grand suite, fashioned from the oldest part of the building, with a barrel vaulted ceiling, stone walls, sitting area and glass doors opening onto the garden. Stone steps lead down to the third twin bedded room, also with barrel vaulted ceiling and small high window.

La Torre: Entered from a private courtyard and up one flight of stairs, La Torre accommodates up to six persons in three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The living/dining room is just off the entrance hall and has a magnificent working fireplace. A complete bath with stall shower is accessed from the entrance hall. The completely furnished kitchen is next to a beautiful furnished terrace with spectacular views, perfect for al fresco dining. There is a master bedroom with ensuite bath with tub and a view on this level. Just off the living room, there is a second double bedded room. A bathroom with stall shower is just in front of this bedroom. Up a flight of wooden stairs is a third double bedded room, located in the old tower.

Belvedere: Entered from a private courtyard and up one flight of stairs, Belvedere accommodates up to four persons in two bedrooms and two baths. The entry stairs open into a charming kitchen with marble sink. There is an open archway which leads to the living/dining room with working fireplace. Some of the walls here show the original stones of the house. There is a lovely private terrace with views of the countryside for al fresco dining or just relaxing. The hallway leads to two double bedrooms, one with ensuite bath with stall shower and a view, and one with separate bath with tub.

Capanna: This apartment was fashioned from the old barn and enjoys a private entrance on the ground floor. Capanna accommodates up to four persons in two bedrooms and two baths. There is a private terrace for outdoor dining or relaxing. The living room has large picture window and stairs to a loft with a comfortable couch. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are two double bedded rooms, both with ensuite baths with stall showers. The second ensuite bathroom is reached by a flight of stairs within the bedroom.

Melograno: With its own private entrance, Melograno accommodates up to four persons in two bedrooms and one bath. A private terrace overlooking the swimming pool is up one flight of an external staircase. The comfortably furnished family living/dining/kitchen is light and airy. There is a double bedded room with glass door opening to the garden on this level. Down a short flight of stairs is the bath with stall shower and the second double bedded room.

Il Piccolo: Just right for two persons with one double bedded room with ensuite bath with shower, Il Piccolo has a private entrance from the courtyard. There is a small, but fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable sitting room.
