Il Territorio - E17

A small hideaway located on a spit of land overlooking the Bay of Poets (Gulf of La Spezia), Il Territorio is a charming retreat for 4-6 in two bedrooms and one and half baths.  For those looking for total privacy and relaxation, this location just outside of Portovenere (about a mile and a half to the seafront) is the perfect place.  Accessed by a 250 meter stone pathway from the public parking area, the grounds of Il Territorio are covered with rosemary, lavender, olive trees, grape wines and a little tomato garden and the views of the sea and the mountains are truly breathtaking.

Near the front gate, there is a summer kitchen with outdoor facilities including gas stove top, sink, preparation area, pizza oven, and barbeque.  There is a covered dining area overlooking the sea as well as restful spots in the garden for enjoying the views and the quiet.  A small garden casa here houses a sofa bed, a small kitchen corner and a bathroom with toilet and sink.

A path rambles down the hill to the main casa, composed of a small kitchen with a gas stove top, a simply but comfortably furnished living room with fireplace, and two bedrooms.  The first bedroom has bunk beds and the second has a double bed. There is also a bathroom with a shower.  Just outside the kitchen is another shaded dining area surrounded by luxuriant gardens.

Hikers will love the rambling paths through the hills above the Bay.  Village shopping is a fifteen minute walk.  Portovenere can be reached by foot going down a staircase that is about a ten to fifteen minute walk or by bus it is less than five minutes.  Here guests can select from a wide choice of activities, shopping, and restaurants.  Hikers can catch the ferry to the Cinque Terre for day walks.

New in 2008 is a swimming pool for use of the guests.
