Joining up with the Verona Opera
In
1996, we were fortunate to participate in Robert Schweitzer's
Opera
Travel to Verona, a tour organized in Germany, and advertised and
populated primarily by German and British opera lovers.
After
our wonderful experience, we promised to help Herr Schweitzer balance
things out by adding some of our American clients to the mix! Our tour
consisted of British Airways Club Class air travel from London to Verona
and return; front-row, upholstered seating at two superb opera
performances at the arena (Aida and Carmen); a traditional
"noodle" dinner on the off night; 4-star accommodations at the
Hotel Colomba d'Oro, just 190 yards from the arena; and many other
amenities, such as a private bar at intermissions, transfers to/from the
airport, and recommendations and help with reservations at some of the
many fabulous restaurants for after-theatre dining.
It
was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, except, of course, we want to
go back this year, and next, and next.......and we did, returning in
1999 for productions of Aida, Carmen and Tosca!
