Villa Santa Caterina - TU66

Set on a hillside just on the edge of a elegant Tuscan village, Villa Santa Caterina enjoys wonderful views of the countryside and attractive accommodations for up to eight.  Its exquisite formal gardens, spacious pool and tennis courts and spectacular terraces invite guests to relax and immerse themselves in the Italian way of life.  The tastefully renovated interior retains the original features of a 19^th century Tuscan country villa while providing comfortable amenities for the discriminating traveler.

The estate is accessed from a gated entrance.  The gracious villa stands at the end of a tree lined colonnade atop the hill.  On the main floor there is a large formal living room graciously furnished with overstuffed sofas, a cozy sitting room with a large fireplace and satellite TV, and another charming sitting room, all of which have panoramic views. The formal dining room can easily seat 10.  Dinner guests can view the landscaped garden through French doors opening onto a covered loggia overlooking private garden.  Furnishings include a pleasant mix of family antiques and comfortable sofas and chairs.

The country kitchen is completely equipped with dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer and gas stove and has plenty of work space for the gourmet cook.  From the kitchen, there is a charming covered terrace with views of the garden. There is a small bathroom with toilet and sink near the entrance. There is a separate laundry room a few steps from the main house.

Upstairs, there are four spacious bedrooms and two full baths with tubs and hand held showers and a common sitting area with a view of the tree lined colonnade.   Comfortable sofas complement the lovely view of the surrounding countryside. There are two bedrooms with “matrimoniale” (queen) beds and two bedrooms with twin beds.    One of the twin bedrooms has oversized twin beds.  There are two tiled bathrooms has with tubs and handheld showers. Two of the bedrooms have French doors opening onto a wide terrace overlooking the gardens and woods.

The beautifully landscaped grounds include a large pool (12 x 6 meters), shared with the owner and family on occasion) and bath house with shower, a tennis court and several paths for walking in the wooded hills. There is a small chapel located a short distance from the main villa.  The estate has extensive olive groves, fruit trees and woods with paths maintained for walking through the gentle rolling hills.  Guests can purchase the estate’s hand pressed olive oil. The owner maintains a weekend house on the estate and Roberto, the resident caretaker, lives near the main gate.  Villa Santa Caterina has long been a family home and is now a unique property available to our guests.

Villa Santa Caterina offers a superb opportunity to enjoy all of Tuscany and Northern Italy. Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and Siena are within easy driving distance. The local village, Fauglia, an easy walk of about 2 kilometers, has several trattorie, a bank, many grocery stores and shops and the quiet road is lined with fashionable villas.  The owner speaks excellent English and occasionally spends the weekend at the farm house on the estate. The pool and tennis court are shared with the owner’s family when they are in residence.
