Lucca City Apartments

The Lucchese, like most Italians today, have turned to more civilized forms of competition -- food, wine and olive oil. Who can best cook it, how to grow the best ingredients, who understands it and who appreciates it. In the local trattoria or padrone’s kitchen, the subject is always the quality of the table, the freshness of the ingredients, the perfection of its wine and its olive oil.

In the late fall, the grocery stores pit local against local by displaying the olive oils from local groves. The air is filled with the sensuous aromas of olives, prosciutto, garlic, cheeses. The center of activity is the large table with several bowls of freshly pressed oil and heaping baskets of bread cut into cubes for dipping. Here, patrons freely sample and critique as they do their daily shopping. Everyone has an opinion, loudly expressed with much gesturing.

Offerings

Fontana-1/2/3 - These apartments are located in the eastern/central side of the city, 5-6 blocks inside the city walls, in the same building.  Shops are only a few steps from the entrance.

Fontana-1 is located on the 2nd floor in the back of the building, so street noise is not a problem. The furnishings are Tuscan style, with terra cotta floors and beamed ceilings. As with any accommodations in the city, all of Lucca, with its marvelous churches, museums, shops, and restaurants is an easy and pleasant walk. This apartment is suitable for a couple, with a sofa bed in the living area to accommodate one more person.

Fontana-1 consists of a large living/dining area with well-equipped side kitchen with large refrigerator, a bathroom with shower, and a double bedroom with queen-sized bed with firm mattress. There is a television set. The entrance from the street goes directly up one easy flight of stairs to the apartment in the rear.
Fontana-2 has the same layout and position in the building as Fontana-1, but is located on the third floor.
Fontana-3 is also located on the third floor, but is a smaller unit. There is a double and a single sofa bed in the common living area, also containing a kitchenette, refrigerator, hearth/oven. The bathroom is equipped with a shower.

Madonnina is a charming, nicely furnished 2-bedroom apartment sleeping up to 4. It is our most popular Lucca city apartment.

The apartment is on the second floor (American). It consists of an entry hall, a living room, a well-equipped kitchen corner with a hearth/oven, and  refrigerator/freezer, two double bedrooms, a small writing room, a small laundry room (with a washing machine), and a bathroom with shower. There is also a television. On the front of the apartment overlooking the street is a delightful terrace with marvelous views in three directions.

Colomba, a large second floor apartment in the heart of the historical city of Lucca, has been recently and carefully restored with comfortable furniture. It sleeps up to 7.

This apartment has a living/dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms with twin beds, 1 bedroom with a double and a single bed, and a bathroom with tub and shower. The apartment contains a washing machine, television, central heating, and a telephone.

Renting Lucca City Apartments

If you are staying within the city of Lucca, we advise that you not have an automobile, as there are severe restrictions on driving within the city, and parking inside the walls is restricted to permanent residents only.

A security/breakage deposit of $200 is collected with final payment and returned to within 30 days following departure less, of course, any charges for loss or breakage.
