Villa San Martino
 At
the edge of a vineyard spilling down into the valley,
Villa San Martino overlooks a fertile and lush estate in the hills
about 8 km from Lucca. Built in 1751, the old farm building has been completely
renovated into two spacious suites with a total of 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
There are stunning views of olive groves, orchards, wildflowers and vineyards
which carpet the Tuscan landscape.
Within
Villa San Martino's thick stone walls, high ceilings and pastel
Tuscan colors accent the original terra cotta floors.
 Furnishings throughout are comfortable upholstered pieces
and lovely antiques. Spacious baths include tubs with handheld showers or stall
showers. The larger suite upstairs, Il Pesco, which has a separate
entrance, accommodates 8-10 persons with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There is a
large country kitchen with Tuscan hearth, large stove, microwave, dishwasher and
large refrigerator/freezer. There is a lovely dining room, capable of seating
occupants of both apartments easily, with wonderful views and a large living
room with massive beamed ceiling. There are two sofa beds available.
 Downstairs, the smaller suite,
Il Timo, opens directly onto the large terrace with spectacular views of
the countryside. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on this level. The kitchen
is fully equipped and the sunny living/dining area is comfortably furnished.
Although ideally suited to a large group, the apartments may be rented
separately.
A nice-sized, in-ground swimming pool can also be found among the olive groves
on the property. The pool is, of course, for the exclusive use of the guests at
Villa San Martino.
Villa San Martino is just a few km from the beautiful walled city
of Lucca where shops and restaurants are conveniently located. Many of the
nearby country villages have wonderful trattorie serving delicious
homemade pastas, locally produced virgin olive oil and the wines of the region.
