Casa Airone - R39
Casa
Airone is a restored stone farmhouse in the Sabina countryside, 80
kilometers northeast of Rome. It is located far enough off the beaten
tourist path to afford guests a tranquil country setting yet within
proximity to the ancient Roman villas, medieval castles, churches and
abbeys that are sprinkled throughout this area. The spacious farmhouse
accommodates up to twelve (12) in rooms attractively furnished with
antiques belonging to the owner’s family. It is set inside a walled
garden and is surrounded by comfortable outdoor living areas.
Casa Airone is on two levels and has a total of six (6)
comfortable bedrooms and six (6) bathrooms. On the first level there is a
spacious living room and dining room with a large fireplace and a kitchen
that will delight the cook, large and well-equipped with a dishwasher , two
small refrigerators, a triple sink, a 5-burner stove and oven, a
microwave, and a fireplace. This level also contains a bedroom with a
double bed and an en suite bathroom with shower, a laundry room with a
washing machine and two freezers, and a full bathroom with a shower. Both
the dining and kitchen areas open onto an outdoor patio for accessible “al
fresco” dining.
On the
second level, there are five (5) bedrooms and four (4) bathrooms. One
bedroom is a suite with a double bed, a sitting area and small terrace.
There are three more double bedrooms (one with a fireplace and one with
twin beds and a small terrace), and one single bedroom. Several of the
bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with tub and shower and there is a
separate full bath with a tub and hand shower as well.
The
outdoor living areas of the Casa Airone are as inviting and
comfortable as the interior with splendid views of the Sabina countryside
and nearby lakes. Guests can relax in the garden on both covered and open
patios furnished with rattan garden furniture or swim or relax around the
large in-ground pool situated 15 steps down from the garden. Children can
enjoy games on a small soccer area. Nearby are the beautiful Roman ruins
of Quinto Assio’s villa (1 km), several typical restaurants and trattorie
offering traditional Umbria and Sabina dishes (3 km), a farmacia and
alimentary (grocery store) (.5 to 1 km), and it is just a ten-minute drive
to the medieval town of Rieti and the Umbrian border. Public
transportation to Rome is readily accessible from the train station at
Farfa, 40 minutes away, or by bus from Rieti. |
