High in the Sabine mountains stands the medieval hilltown of Montasola. From its piazza one enjoys majestic views in virtually every direction. The steep slopes below the village are covered with olive trees and small family gardens, wildflowers and dense woods. The ancient borgo with its narrow cobblestone lanes is home to some families whose ancestors settled here in the late seventeenth century.

One of these families has converted their lovely family home, Historical Residence Montepiano, into four spacious apartments each with a separate entrance. From this residence one enjoys the conveniences of the small village, easy parking in the village square, a local bar, a trattoria, and a grocery store. Cool mountain breezes, spectacular views, walking trails and easy access to other villages with shops, good restaurants and transportation to Rome make this an ideal destination for a family or group seeking a relaxed and varied “Roman Holiday”, even in the peak summer months.

All of the apartments have been artfully restored in a medieval building by the old Tower of the village. The restorations have been accomplished respecting the traditions and style of living of the family of the owner who have used it as a personal residence for centuries.

**Daily rates have a three day minimum stay. There is a final cleaning charge of €24 payable at departure directly to the owner/caretaker.  Optional extra services available include:  Extra Bed - 10% surcharge, Central Heating - €12.00/day, Extra cleaning - €7.00/hour.  These are also payable prior to departure. Letitia, a descendant of the original family, is available to prepare an evening meal and can also prepare and serve a welcome dinner in her Villa upon arrival at a reasonable cost per person. Please let us know in advance if you would like to take advantage of this offer. A security/breakage deposit of approximately 15% of the rental cost will be collected with your final payment, and returned within one month following your departure from Historic Residence Montepiano.
