A
popular residential area in the very center of the ancient
city. With cobblestone streets and antique shops, the area
remains somehow peaceful, giving the feeling of a Rome long
past. A popular attraction "around the corner"
from this area is Piazza Navona with Bernini's splashing
"Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi" (Fountain of Four Rivers),
one of the showpiece attractions of Rome. Also nearby is
the namesake Campo de' Fiori, a famous square with many varied
facets. In the morning it is a colorful food market. In the
afternoon it is an intellectual meeting place where people can
go and read a book and relax with a glass of wine. At night, it
has a youthful atmosphere with its bars and pizzerias. The
Spanish Steps and the Pantheon are within easy walking distance. |
