Re Artù-UA7

Assisi, the city of the Saints: Ruffino, Clare, and, of course, Francis. The city is dominated by the double church atop the tomb of Francis on the Hill of the Damned now called the Hill of Paradise. After a youth of debauchery and excess, Francis was called, "Vade Francisce, et repera domum meum" - 'Go Francis, and repair my house'. Renouncing the behavior of his younger days and the promise of his inheritance, Francis took on a life of strict poverty and simplicity, teaching love for others, care for the poor and sensitivity to nature - eventually affecting a revolution in the excesses of the church of his day. Assisi is now one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world as people of all religions (and none) come each year to see the awesome Basilica di San Francesco and the other spiritual sites on the mount seeking inspiration and guidance from the lives of its Saints.

Not far down the valley set up on a a pair of small hills are the beautiful farm manors known jointly as Re Artù quietly contemplating the grandeur of the churches above and the simplicity of the teachings of the saints. The main building, the original Re Artù, is a large building that contains six apartments.  A small distance away stands a second lovingly restored manor, Re Artù-Medita containing 3 more apartments.  (Video of Rè Artu-Medita - 1.5G, MPEG)

Charmingly named, the apartments in both manors are simply yet tastefully decorated, reflecting the meditative surroundings and spiritual nature of the city of Saints. Nearby is the public trail from Assisi to Gubbio, a pilgrimage path taken by the Saint in his wanderings. Surrounded by beautiful views of the Umbrian countryside, each building has a large pool.  The pool at the main building has an external barbeque. A portable barbeque is also available for guest use. Products of Rè Artu and the surrounding area are available for purchase. Guests can walk the estate and the surrounding hills along several trails including one which tracks down to the river at the base of the valley.

Below are brief descriptions of the apartments available at the main building, Re Artù:

Ginestra - 2 Bedrooms (Double and 2 twins), double and single sofa beds in the living room, 2 bathrooms (with showers). One of these bathrooms contains a handicapped accessible shower (there is one step up into the apartment). Ginestra includes a patio with a table and chairs.

Salvia - 1 Bedroom (Double) with a double and a single sofa bed in the living room. 1 bathroom with shower. There is a set of chairs and a table outside the apartment. Salvia connects with Rosemarino for larger groups.

Rosmarino - Studio apartment with a double sofa bed. A single bathroom with a tub and hand shower is also a part of this apartment. An attached covered patio with a table and chairs is shared between Rosmarino, Amaranthus, and Calendula. For larger groups, Rosmarino and Salvia may be rented together at a significantly discounted price (See below).

Calendula - 1 Bedroom (Double) with room for an additional single bed, double and a single sofa bed in the living room, single bathroom with shower. An attached covered patio with a table and chairs is shared between Rosemarino, Amaranthus, and Calendula.

Amaranthus - 1 Bedroom (Double), double sofa bed in the living room, 1 bathroom with shower. An attached covered patio with a table and chairs is shared between Rosemarino, Amaranthus, and Calendula.

Prices include utility costs (except central heating), weekly linen changes, and use of pool. Heating and telephone, if used, are chargeable by consumption, and payable at time of departure.
